Climate/geography of the EU:
There are 27 countries that are members of the EU

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,
Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

Due to the diverse mix of countries that are part of the EU, the climate varies
tremendously depending on which country is being considered. Many of the countries
climates are maritime temperate with a lot of rainfall and an average high temperature of
around 65 C and a low of 37 C. Other countries have subtropical climates such as members
around the Mediterranean. Finally, some countries have colder alpine climates such as
those with mountains such as in the Alps of Austria.

Geography:


The EU is located mostly on the European continent, part of the Eurasian landmass.
However, there are a couple other landmasses such as Iceland that also are part of the EU.


Major Islands:
Cyprus, Malta, Crete, Iceland, Great Brittan, Aegean Islands

Major Lowlands:
East European plain, Po Valley, Northeastern Plain, Meseta Central

The major bodies of water of the EU:
Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Baltic Sea, North Sea, Atlantic Ocean, Ageian Sea


Major Rivers:
Danube, Loire, Tagus, Rhone, Seine, Thames, Shannon, Po, Rhine, Elbe,

Major Mountains:
Meseta, Pyrenees, Apennines, Alps, Balkan Mountains, Dinaric Mountains, Carpathian
Mountains

Technology:
Germany is the most technologically advanced country of the EU based off of patents
submitted. Germany has three large tech companies, Bosch which is the largest auto parts
supplier, Siemens which is a large engineering company, and BASF which is a large
chemical company.

UK
The UK has BAE systems which is a large defense/aerospace company which is the world?s
largest military contractor. The UK also has a large pharmaceutical company
GlaxoSmithKline

Europe in general:
EDAS is a aerospace, defense, and telecommunications company based in the Netherlands.
This is a very large military contractor and the EDAS includes Airbus, Eurocopter, ect.
This cooperation operates all over Europe.

Education:
Each EU country creates its own education system, however, the EU has many programs which
help enhance the education of EU students. Programs include Erasmus which is a student
exchange program that funds students to travel and study at universities in other
countries. Comenius is a program that funds cooperation between schools and teachers.
Grundtvig is another program that funds adult education.

Scientific Research:
The European Research Council is an organization that funds EU countries research
projects on a competitive basis.
